!!WARNING: Rumbonorte is a scam company – stay away! We chartered the Turandot (Bali Catspace) from Rumbonorte from October 4–11, 2025, and our experience was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. When we arrived to take over the boat, the problems started immediately. Most of the charter company’s staff did not speak English, making communication extremely difficult. Even worse, the wind instrument on the catamaran was not working. Their technician tried to fix it but failed, so we had to sail the entire week without a functioning wind instrument – a serious safety issue. During the week, one of the bilge pumps malfunctioned and ran continuously, impossible to switch off, producing a deafening noise that made it impossible to sleep. We reported this problem multiple times, both by phone and in writing, but the company ignored us completely and provided no assistance whatsoever. Additionally, the gangway’s mounting screws were ripped out, making it unsafe and unusable. When we returned the boat to the marina on Friday afternoon, the company’s representative accepted the return, but we never received any documentation about the handover, nor the diver’s inspection report, despite asking several times. We had paid the €4,000 security deposit using two credit cards, and to our shock, Rumbonorte actually charged both cards — they did not just block (authorize) the amount, as is standard procedure. This was completely unauthorized and illegal. Since then (now more than 30 days later), the company has disappeared! They do not answer emails, WhatsApp messages, or phone calls, and they have not refunded a single euro. At the time of check-out, they verbally confirmed that the boat was in perfect condition and that a full refund would be processed shortly. Only afterward did we discover that they had fully charged the deposit — and then became totally unreachable. This company is a complete fraud. They take your money, deliver a poorly maintained and unsafe boat, and then vanish with your deposit.

Avoid!!! Together with some friends we rented a catamaran from this company at the beginning of October. One engine broke down and we lost a day with the repair, we found water in the dinghy engine and also water in the gasoline in the plastic can. But the worst thing is that although we had no incident, they admit it, they refuse to return our deposit. They simply do not answer calls, messages, etc. I have seen many reviews on this topic. We will do everything legally necessary to get our money back.

We had a catamaran chartered in beginning of October 2025, a group of friends. No major issues at pickup or return. They confirmed via Whatsapp everything is fine however they did not return the 4.000 euro security deposit. The company does not respond to email, Whatsapp, telephones. It looks like a scam, avoid this company. We reported the transaction as fraudulent to the bank and now we will make a formal complaint to the police.

Review: Avoid – Deposit Not Refunded After Charter In October, we chartered a catamaran bareboat in Ibiza. Everything went smoothly both at check-in and check-out — the boat was in perfect condition, and no damages or issues were reported. However, serious problems started after the charter ended. We have not been able to recover the €4,000 deposit we left at the beginning of the rental. Despite the fact that the boat was returned in excellent condition and there was no reason for the company to withhold the money, we have received no reply to our emails or phone calls. At this point, the situation feels very much like a fraud. I strongly recommend avoiding this company to prevent similar problems.

We booked a Sun Odyssey 389 for a week end of October to beginning November 2022 as a family with 2 adults and 4 kids. When reading a number of negative reviews on the internet about Rumbo Norte a was slightly unsettled. But instead of a bad experience we had a really good one. Pablo from Rumbo contacted us some days before the trip and sent a lot of useful information. When arriving in Ibiza we took Taxis from Ibiza Airport to Sant Antoni de Portmany. Pablo was accessible all the time, we could enter the pier as promised with the taxis and the staff on site was already at the boat waiting for us. We even could take over the boat much earlier than 17:00, leaving us some time for bunkering food & supplies. The guy at the handover of the boat was patient and proficient, explaining everything we asked him. After taking over the boat and bunkering we went to Sant Antoni for some food. Nice thing: the town was not crowded with tourists any more but still some restaurants were open. So the next day we lifted anchor an went on our trip - along the west coast of Ibiza. All along Pablo was available for questions and good tips. The boat was in really good condition, no hidden flaws. When we returned after a week in rather strong wind, we hit a neighbouring boat when docking. Check-out of the boat was done in a professional way, diver was not available but was announced for the following Monday. As the experience with Rumbo-Norte up so far was a good one, I put trust in them. The Rumbo team had documented the damage and sent an invoice shortly after my return to our home. The cost of the repair were adequate and felt treated really fair. After leaving the boat on Saturday morning we took taxis to Ibiza-Town and had a very nice day (my birthday :-) ) and save trip home to cold Germany. Rating: Arrival: +++ (Easy to reach via Taxi from Ibiza Airport; approx. 30 EUR) Shopping: +++ (A number of super markets close by) Check-in: +++ (professional and patient) Staff on-site: +++ (friendly and proficient) Helpfulness: ++ (good availability during the day) Sailing area: +++ (very nice bays, only few marinas) Boat condition: ++ (Sun Odyssey 389, good maintained, spray hood would be another +, in fall this would be a good feature) Check-out: +++ (quick, professional, fair) Summary: Ibiza is a very nice sailing area with tons of bays and spectacular views. Rumbo Norte was a very good and fair charter company. So we will come again to Ibiza and we will charter again with Rumbo-Norte.
