I have been chartering yachts every summer for over 15 years, and I am an experienced sailor. My recent charter with Yachting in Sardinia was, without exaggeration, the most catastrophic experience I have ever had, completely ruining our holiday. From the very start, the boat was delivered in unacceptable condition. It had critical technical failures from day one, including a major electrical fault that left us without a functioning charging system for over four days. This meant we could not rely on the batteries to operate essential onboard systems, making the boat unsafe. On top of this, the freshwater system was defective for the entire week, despite multiple attempts at repair, forcing us to manage with extremely limited water supply. The wind instruments were completely inoperative, a serious safety hazard, especially as we faced strong wind conditions throughout the trip. Because of these issues, we lost over 60 hours of our cruise immobilised in port: a full day stuck at their base for unsuccessful repairs, and two nights trapped in La Maddalena instead of following our planned Sardinia–Corsica itinerary. Instead of enjoying time at sea, we spent most of our week troubleshooting breakdowns and waiting for repairs. The response from the base was poor to non-existent: no real reactivity, constant bad faith, and at times outright aggressiveness from staff. There was absolutely no empathy for the situation, no real concern for passenger safety, and no willingness to take responsibility for ruining our holiday. Speaking with other charterers that same week confirmed we were far from alone — several other customers reported equally severe technical failures, poor maintenance, and a complete lack of support. This company operates with negligence, bad faith, and a total disregard for both safety and customer satisfaction. If you value your holiday, your safety, and your money, my advice is simple: never rent from Yachting in Sardinia.

This was by far the worst travel experience I've ever had. We chartered a boat from Yachting in Sardinia for what was supposed to be a relaxed sailing trip with friends. What we got was a disaster from start to finish. First, a number of things on the boat were poorly maintained, and had visible safety issues. A faulty anchor and a broken jib sail left us with considerable concerns about the state of our (only 4 years old) boat. Despite the company promoting “24/7 support,” no one answered the emergency phone line for hours. We sent emails, messages, even tried calling through WhatsApp. All ignored. When someone finally did respond, it was with rudeness and zero urgency. We were told we are incompetent sailors and were slapped with a 250 euro repair fee, even though nothing was fixed and the issues were pre-existing. Insane. The support personnel (Mara and Francesco) were rude, condescending, and at times borderline aggressive. One support member actually mocked us when we expressed our concerns. No accountability, no apology, just deflection. When we tried to escalate to management post-trip, we were met with zero response which is laughable given the experience. No refund, no responsibility taken. This company is a scam. We felt unsafe, unheard, and disrespected. Avoid at all costs. there are plenty of reputable companies that prioritize safety, professionalism, and customer care. This one clearly does not.

Terrible experience... We rented a Dufour 53, which had numerous technical issues. The thrusters were not working, the AC was not working, and the windlass died on us. We had to call them to come and raise it by hand. We have lost 2 days of sailing trying to figure out the technical issues! Avoide, Avoide!!!

We had a wonderful experience chartering a boat based in Marina Di Portisco – it was in excellent condition and very well maintained. The entire booking process was smooth and digital, and all our questions were answered promptly. The trip itself was fantastic, especially thanks to our knowledgeable skipper who knew the region inside out and showed us some amazing spots. Many thanks for the great service – we’ll definitely be back!

Safety hazards and negligent maintenance – avoid this company Our charter experience was compromised by dangerous conditions and poor maintenance. Instead of enjoying our trip, we faced serious safety issues that the company failed to address properly. A critical electrocution hazard was created when technicians left a frayed, poorly insulated cable lying on the wet shower floor after repairing the toilet (see first photo). This made the shower unsafe to use. Even more alarming was the malfunctioning of the outdoor gas grill during use. The grill produced a loud blast that violently lifted the cooking surface by several centimeters, causing the two pans and their boiling contents to be thrown towards the cooking crew member, burning his leg (see second and third photo). Unfortunately, these were not isolated problems - we experienced multiple serious issues throughout our charter (e.g., water leak in cabin causing a wet mattress, defect of the toilet pump). We spent much of our vacation dealing with hazards and arguing with the company rather than enjoying sailing. We asked for compensation, but instead of getting anything, they made us pay reparation costs. This level of negligence is inexcusable for a professional charter operation. We strongly warn others against risking their safety with this company. Never again.
